View Full Version : [ubuntu] Weird error installing 8.10

Basically, I've got 8.10 on a disc and I was planning to upgrade to the latest distribution once I'd installed it. On restarting and booting from the disc, any action (check CD for errors/start Ubuntu without making changes/install) results in something odd: it brings up a long list of 'freeze' errors, then informs me it's going to check asynchronously for SCSI devices (I have none). Odder still, it works perfectly fine in Virtual Box and will happily go about its business, so it can't be the disc that's faulty. I didn't want to install from inside Windows because the 'disk performance is slightly reduced' message made me slightly wary.

Hopefully this isn't glaringly obvious or has been answered a hundred times, but I'm completely new to Linux/Ubuntu and wasn't sure under what error category this would fall. Any ideas?
