Grub error 11

I Recently installed ubuntu9.04 amd64 on my system. I'm not much of a linux user so I wanted grub to boot into windows by default. I installed Qgrubeditor to make the required changes. Now whenever I try to boot into ubuntu I get the message "Error 11: Unrecognized device string". I am able to boot into windowsXP Any suggestions on how I should get ubuntu working again??? Qgrubeditor has kept a backup copy of previous grub but I don't know where or under what name. Anyway evenif the previous grub is reinstalled I would want to change it to boot into windows by default after the time-out. thanks guys

Well I reinstalled Ubuntu as there was no reply on this post for a long time and followed these steps http://beconfused.com/2008/02/12/how-to-make-windows-vista-boot-first-using-grub-in-ubuntu/ to make grub boot windows first Thanks for the info though.....
