Upgraded to Jaunty, and when Ubuntu boots, and I turn off splash by Alt-F1, after line

* Starting Samba daemons
there's a long delay (about half of a minute, and HDD isn't active). So, a long time is taken for Ubuntu startup. If I delete samba package, computer boots normally.
How to decrease this delay?

Same here on upgraded Jaunty, but it only happens occasionally and I wouldn't want to remove samba (just in case I would need it).
