View Full Version : [ubuntu] Migrating problem - from Wubi to normal Ubuntu LVPM

mke
April 30th, 2009, 12:03 AM
I installed Wubi on my laptop with two physical hard drives. Wubi is on the same partition with Vista. There is no system on the second hard drive. I decided to move Wubi to normal Ubuntu on the second hard drive (using LVPM). I followed instructions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=438591 and started with Partition Manager tool and created two partitions: primary formated as ext3 and swap formated as a linux swap also primary. I chose "transfer" from LVPM (I picked up newly created sdb2), everything went successful. Afret restarting I noticed additional grub option

title Ubuntu-on-/dev/sdb2
root (hd1,1)
configfile /boot/grub/menu.l

After picking this option, next layer of GRUB showed up, almost similar to the previous one. I picked up first option trying to start migrated Ubuntu

title Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.28-11-generic

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic root=UUID=ebae06be-914e-4a73-b65c-b26dd02d9154 ro ROOTFLAGS=syncio quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-11-generic

and I encountered something like "error 15: file not found" and nothing happens

below couple additional information

from wubi:

a) from /etc/fstab

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

/host/ubuntu/disks/boot /boot none bind 0 0
/host/ubuntu/disks/swap.disk none swap loop,sw 0 0

b) from /boot/grub/menu.lst

# menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8)
# grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8),
# grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub
