Hi,

a few days ago i have upgraded my ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 and got some problems with my nvidia-glx driver. So i decide to upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04. From now nothing is working!

When i startup in normal mode, i get a error message that my xorg.conf is missconfigured. I have already reset xorg.conf to default settings, but still the same error. After i choose low resoltution mode for startup i get next error message that the welcome program is crashing (German Language Msg: Begrüßungsprogramm scheint am abstürzen zu sein). Then everything hangs up.

I started in resuce mode, there i have removed nvidia-glx-177 which was failing during startup and installed nvidida-glx-180 but the error is still the same.

For info: I have a non standard gdm welcome theme installed. Perhaps this one sucks with 9.04. But i don't know how to set the default welcome screen in rescue mode.

Can anyone give my some advise?

Kind regards,
ueps
