Hi all,

I have been trying for a few days to replace vista with linux. I have used several versions with no luck. I am annoyed beyond belief. I do have some tech ability and have built several dozen pc's. I have played with linux in different versions and wanted to go to it fulltime since using vista for a few months. My system specs are:

I7 intel quad core cpu
ATI 4850HD vid card 1 gig on card ram
3 gigs of ddr2 ram
500 gig hd

The problem that is occuring is I can begin to load linux ( mint, ubuntu, kde, mandriva) and it will do the start up script. It will then ask if I wish to run it live or install. After I pick install I simply get a blank white screen. I am thinking its a video issue but am unsure. Any ideas? I really want to dump vista.
