View Full Version : [all variants] Re-format and install with no cd/dvd drive?

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301, and it's currently running Kubuntu 8.04.

It's running very slow now (probably because of strange things I did to the system while re-learning to use Linux). I was going to reinstall, so I figured I'd go with 9.04. But I have a problem: my dvd drive is dead, and I don't have an external...

I don't need any of the files from the computer, so a re-format and a clean install is what I was hoping to do.

I've heard of booting from a usb memory card; will a cell-phone with a 8GB microSD card work (the phone is the G1)?

I've also heard of a network install...

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't necessarily need hand-holding (I don't think...), but knowing it is possible and where to find the info would be a great help.

Thanks a lot!
John
