Ubuntu netbook remix leaves settings that maximizes KDE windows, how to disable?

I first installed UNR, switched to normal desktop mode, but it keeps maximizing KDE windows like kopete contact list, krusader copy window etc.

what's the problem, how to disable this? it must be some lame gnome window manager setting I think...

Maximus must still be running in the background but I'm not sure how to disable it - if you don't care for it at all then you could uninstall maximus.
