Alright i got a friend with a netbook everex cloudbook. Comes with the gOS (based on ubuntu). From what my friend described...it was updating to 7.*.* etc. Idk wth that could be :P. Since all i know is Jaunty is now out for desktop and idk. But anyways, now when he boots the only option in grub is the memory test. There's no CD drive on it so i can't live boot anything. SO any help or suggestions?

None of the 7.x Ubuntu releases are supported any more. I suggest a fresh install of 9.04. The easiest way to install on a netbook is by using an external USB CD drive or USB thumb drive (use Unetbootin to copy the Live CD .iso file to the thumb drive).

Good luck!
