Upgrading from 8.04 to 9.04

I understand that I need to upgrade to 8.10 first but the update manager doesn't show me any updates for 8.10 or 9.04. Is there another way to upgrade? Perhaps through the terminal?

Read this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IntrepidUpgrades). Then read this (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading). You can also try this first, press alt+F2 and type in “update-manager -d” (without the quotes) into the command box. Be sure you have ALL updates applied to 8.04 before trying to upgrade, then do it again to upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04.
