Hello,
I am getting the " No common CD-ROM drive was detected " error and have tied the solution presented here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964904 with no success.
I've tried installing Xubuntu and Ubuntu 8.04 desktop and server, all of them fail in the same way, detecting and mounting the CD-ROM, anyone out there be able to help me? :)
