Jaunty has a much faster boot-up over Intrepid, and is much snappier all around.

I also noticed less memory usage over 8.10

Besides the VLC in separated screens, I have not experienced any other "bugs" VLC was fixed, moving from v 0.9.2 to v 1.0.0

I am using Jaunty on my desktop and Jaunty eebuntu on my netbook. I prefer Gnome, although I only used KDE for a couple of weeks. I did use XFCE for a while and liked it very much. I have not had a problem yet, I think it is solid and ready to go!
