hi, i finished downloading ubuntu-8.04.2-desktop-i386.iso.torrent from the ubuntu website(http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#bt)
using uTorrent.
the problem is i hav a different hash shown on the uTorrent and the hash on the ubuntu hash site(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes).

is it okay to burn the iso file? like is it gonna be without any errors?

also, if i do burn the iso, can i use the built-in cd burner for vista?

thanks

Hi. Yes, you can use your vista burning software.

But if your hashes don't match, either your file is corrupted, or incomplete. Start it back up, or dload from a different torrent.

Where did you get this torrent?

Hi. For best results, keep the conversation on the forums -- no need for a pm.

Either your torrent is not complete, or else is corrupted. Try dloading again.

the hash in ubuntu-8.04.2-desktop-i386.iso (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes) is
589f13da46e34789cb13b7dc574ccc6c

and the hash that i got from downloading the ubuntu-8.04.2-desktop-i386.iso.torrent from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#bt is
68C1FDE1CAE079B03946E16C2C4253BC6FDAECAA

why are they different when the fact that its downloaded directly from the ubuntu website?

If the hashes do not match, either there was something wrong with the download or with the server. You have to download it again if the hashes do not match.

Are you sure you downloaded the appropriate one?

But either way, I'd suggest you use Torrents to get the ISOs that you want. If you're coming from Windows, I suggest uTorrent. It's lightweight, and can minimize to the tray so as not to obstruct anything else. You should have your ISO in about 20-30 minutes right now, there's a ton of people seeding right now.
