Has anyone tried to install scisoft (astronomical tool) on ubuntu?! I really need it for my studies..

I did not try to install it, but I noticed there are instructions on how to install it on "unsupported" linux distributions at
ftp://ftp.eso.org/scisoft/scisoft7.3.1/linux/fedora6/INSTALL
(see method #3).

Yeap noticed, by I keep getting errors when trying to make that tar xvcf.. etc thingie.. so It doesnt work at my place - it only works sometimes (because I did some loco ****..)

You should only do it once... did you remember to use sudo in front of tar ...?
