Hello experts,
I am planning to do a fresh install today and I was wondering if someone could help me to clarify the following:

When it comes to defining the partitions: what should be a primary partition and extended one? I would like to have the following structure:

Partition1 /
Partition2 SWAP
Partition3 /Home

Should I define all of these as Principal or Extended?

Thanks in advance,
-AK

If I remember rightly you can have upto 4 primary partitions on any single hard drive. An extended partition is only needed if you need more than four. So if the three above is all you have then it should work just fine as three primary partitions.
