Hello group,
Quick question. I loaded Ubuntu 8.10 on my computer and now my roomate is jealous and wants to give it a try because he is sick of the spyware on Windows.

He is using a Dell laptop with a Logitech MX500 wireless keyboard and mouse. When we loaded the live CD of 8.10 neither the mouse or the keyboard worked. I was able to find a way to make it work on-line but before he dives in with a full install he wants to try it first.

So my question is.... Is it possible to load up a live CD with the correct drivers for his keyboard & mouse? Also see is it possible to see if Office 2007 will work correctly? Without installing a full distro? He needs these two things before he can switch.

I wanted to him to do the dual boot with Wubi or ubuntu.exe, but the CD-ROM (only while he is in Windows) doesn't work correctly.

Thanks for any help that you can provide!

To use Office 2007 you will probably need to use wine another alternative to Office 2007 is Open Office which is install by default with Ubuntu.

You do not need to use the cdrom to install ubuntu using wubi You can download the wubi.exe (http://wubi-installer.org/) and run it with the cd. If you have already downloaded the ubuntu iso you can stick that in the same folder as the wubi.exe and it should use that to install.
