I have an Acer 5315 and everything worked out of the box. It sooo fast! The boot time is 14 seconds on here. I couldn't ask for better. Good job Ubuntu team! Can't wait for Karmic Koala! :)

I agree! There's no better benchmark that the speed you can actually feel. And the difference between Ibex and Jaunty is the kind you can feel without measuring it.

Amazing job from Canonical and the whole community out there.

Let's keep spreading linux all over.

I know. Its just like, BIM BAM BOOM! Haha.
It didn't have really many look changes, but it had quite a few under the hood, and it's so enjoyable to use. It's literally about 20x faster than Vista on my computer.

Played around with a Jaunty Minimal Install in a VM, seems nice and zippy.

What is a Jaunty Minimal?

I was wondering the same thing. Found this on google:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD

...but that's the first time I've heard about it.

I think he means using the alternate CD to install a CLI only system, and building up. Could be wrong, though.

You're correct, It's what i did yesterday, the minimal install is fun, but the desktop is not as smooth an experience. Obviously, since you have to put the packages on yourself. having done this, I can truly appreciate the work Canonical does to make it all mesh.
