I hate Microsoft as much as the next user, but I need the .NET framework to be compatible with wine for some applications. They say that they will respond to any email within 24 hours, although I wonder if they will from a person who states he is a llinux user.

They probably will reply saying they can't offer support because you are not using Windows. I don't believe they will simply ignore an user that needs something only they can provide. They might also recommend buying a Windows license.

Guess what? They actually replied. Go figure. They said that they will forward my message to the seggestions team for later discussion. Interesting, If they do, and the idea is approved, this will be one happy day for linux.

dragos, could you also write to Ferarri and ask them to make a great looking, coupe car, with a 500+bhp V8 and rear wheel drive for less than £15,000.

Well if were asking for things that will NEVER happen!! :P

I also want them to make Flight Simulator X work in wine. Or better yet, a native port. Can you get on that?

So, who thinks Microsoft will make their .NET stuff compatible with wine to please dragos240? I'm taking bets now...Microsoft has attempted to sue WINE before. The only reason WINE still exists is because the court ruled it legal. Microsoft is doing everything it can to make life miserable for WINE users.

well, theoretically, mono is linux's .net, and should not need wine to execute natively.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mono_(software)

mono was a novell idea, so it is covered in their pact with ms not to sue over patent cross licensing (since the licenses themselves are incompatible, a pledge is the best we can get...)

If it was, it was a slow automatic response.

I have tried to find and confirm this, but I can't.
Can you link to anything or elaborate?
