Xubuntu 9.04 Wallpaper

I've tried right-clicking and setting the wallpaper, and also via the desktop settings. The pictures I'm trying to set as background are .jpg .

Any help here, I like to select my own wallpaper; although the given ones are quite pretty.

Got it, you have to select within the 3-button radio group, and go with image list. Couple of clicks after adding, and it's stored in the library.
