View Full Version : [ubuntu] Sudden shutdown during 3d gaming on ubuntu 9.04

April 26th, 2009, 10:04 PM
I am running Ubuntu on a toshiba laptop a215-s7422 with an ATI 1200 radeon graphics card. ubuntu in general works great but when i start playing a 3d game like warzone 2100 5 minutes into it my system completely shuts down. this has never happened before and i know it not a heat issue. Any Ideas out there? thanks.

Probably it's the Compiz Window manager. Install the Compiz Fusion icon and switch the window manager to Metacity before you start up your game.

I actually use switch mine to Openbox, seems to work best.

Thanks! I think that fixed it. i will try some other graphic intense games and see what happens.
