Ever since 9.04, my screensaver has been nothing but a nuance. When I leave my PC for X amount of minutes, the screensaver initiates; however, it hangs at just a black screen & I am unable to make it pull out of it. When I try to change the screensaver settings, it also hangs and I am forced to shutdown my computer by force.
In a failed attempt to make my wallpaper the screensaver: glmatrix, I installed xscreensaver. I now have two screensaver options on my preferences. Is there possibly a way to disable the broken one and use xscreensaver?

Since, xscreensaver works and Gnome-screensaver doesn't, I uninstalled it by:

sudo apt-get remove gnome-screensaver
