I've heard the current one described as "cartoonish". I'm inclined to agree.

I like the icon theme mostly, however, the battery indicator, and the networking icon are somewhat problematic.

I personally think those are just as oldschool looking as the current set.. maybe worse.. :(

In my friends opinion, and mine, we need something like: https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Artwork/Incoming/Intrepid/Intrepid_Ibex_Icons_-_Art_Team#New%20Human%20Icon%20Theme

More modern looking, professional, and smooth. Not plastic-like and dark. We need something that makes a person feel good, like a bright set of colors that are round and smooth rather than square (like old cars) and dark/grungy (like it's dirty).

The Breathe icon set is a nice concept, but they're having trouble making some of them look good. Personally I quite like the photo-realistic approach to icons that seems to be popular right now, though something like the GNOME-Colors theme could be very good for a default look. It nails the simplicity of Tango and the style of... something else, that Tango didn't have.

So far Gnome-colors is one of the best and simplest icon sets that I can find. I have been using them forever. Also, the Elementary icon set has some nice icons, though lots of the icons in that set need replaced and/or fixed up. Many of them don't match the rest of the set.

While I admit Hydroxygen looks great, I doubt everyone would be willing to download 76MB worth of icons.
