View Full Version : [ubuntu] jaunty upgrade from hardy 8.04

I just finished burning a copy of jaunty to disk im asking if i can upgrade using the disk burned from the already installed version i already have i tried to upgrade before to 8.10 and compiz stop working had to revert back to 8.04 from my master disk if anybody knows if this can be done please let me know before i screw up my machine. :lolflag:

No you can't do a direct upgrade. You first have to go to 8.10.

It might be that compiz breaks when you do the upgrade, but that is a problem you need to fix. Compiz should work fine under 8.10 and 9.04. But during an upgrade some config files might be changed which could result in parts of the system not starting.
