I've been trying to set up my system to the old working state after an install from scratch. I am having some problems with the new digikam for which I have no alternative with my collection of short films mixed wiht photos.

First, no thumbnails for my moviefiles were generated. This was solved by installing mplayerthumbs. It is however still not possible to playback video. I have installed phonon and it seems as though something is happeing (sound) but there is no image, or either just a black frame. I have also installed KUBUNTU and in there it seems to work as expected.

Why is it not working in de gnome DE? What do I need to do to get it working.

Is there a way to install the old kde 3 digikam in ubuntu jaunty?

I have an nvidia 8600 GTS graphics card and use the CS drivers.

For some unexplainable reason I get an image now after installing xine-ui
