How do I reinstall Ubuntu 9.04?

Since I am new to ubuntu I have done lots of mistakes and therefore I want to reinstall Ubuntu 9.04 so that I have a clean OS again.

I have tried to reinstall with the CD just as I installed Ubuntu when I had Windows XP: Restart the computer and then waited for the reinstall, but it ubuntu just starts as normal.

So what do I do?

Hi, make sure you have the cdrom set to boot first in your bios.

Without knowing what type of pc you have, try booting the machine and pressing one of these keys to enter the bios.
Delete
F1
F2
F10
ESC
Then look for boot order, boot sequence or something like that and make sure that the cdrom is set to boot first.
