My First Problem: Screen Resolution.

In windows my resolution fit the whole screen, Now in ubuntu its on 600x800.

In the Display (Screen Resolution) Settings in ubuntu desktop It just shows 800x600 and a Smaller size.

The other problem is terminal.

I go to open terminal and the box comes up as a blank white screen.

1. Some hardware information is necessary to solve your problem. What sort of graphics card are you using? What sort of monitor do you have?

2. Does this problem exist only with gnome-terminal, or are you able to run something like xterm from the run dialog (alt + F2)?

What graphics driver are you using? Go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and see if there's a driver for your graphics card available. If there is, enable it.

I did alt-f2, Typed a command and ticked run with terminal and terminal pops up blank.

My PC Is a laptop (Sony Vaio).

Ill check "device drivers" or what ever it was called but when I last clicked it it wouldn't come up :S.

Thanks for replying!
