View Full Version : [ubuntu] Upgrading to 9.04, can no longer boot into encrypted system

I just finished updating from 8.10 to 9.04.

Here was my system:

System encrypted with passwordA
Swap encrypted with passwordB
Home encrypted with passwordC

Update completes, I reboot excited to see the new features 9.04 has to offer.

I enter the correct password for the first encrypted device, it then displays Password accepted mounting XXX...

Then if I wait about 5 minutes it says it failed to mount and that the partition or key no longer exists. It does. The hard drive works, I have 2 other OSes on it they function fine. I'd really like to get back into ubuntu, even if just long enough to pull my data off and reformat. Any help is really really appreciated.

It drops me to a shell, will post specifics tomorrow.

Where would one start trouble shooting this problem?

The idea that I'm going to have to switch OSes to prevent data loss is absurd to me.
