You just need to install it:

sudo apt-get install deskbar-applet
or through Synaptic Package Manager.

Have you tried going to synaptic and checking
if it's installed.I do not know if 9.04 installs
it or not.

i'd like to revive the thread, since i installed beagle and deskbar-applet on my 9.04, but i can't locate the applet in the list. is it still compatible with Jaunty?

LE: ok, it took a system restart to see the applet after installing it. so i'm good to go now.
