Ok. I just upgraded from kubuntu 8.10 to 9.04. My desktop effects were working perfectly in 8.10, I had my desktop wall, expo, and everything else setup just the way I liked it. I upgraded to 9.04 and everything went kaput. The only way I can switch desktops now is if I click the desktop I want in the Pager plasmoid. Someone help!

Uh, I didn't have any proprietary drivers installed on 8.10, and I suppose I should also mention that everything in my laptop is intel.

did you do a upgrade when you installed 8.10?I know the Intel 965 chips are blacklisted that's
the most popular intel chip set if that isn't what your running yours is still most likely
blacklisted.proprietary drivers is needed even on 8.10 to use compiz you may have just not
known you had them installed.

Is the Intel GMA x3100 blacklisted? Cause that's what I got.

Never mind. I fixed it. I still don't know what the problem was, but I fixed the problem through fusion-icon. After installing it, I went into compiz options and noticed that 'loose binding' was unchecked. So, I checked it et voila!
