Hey Guys, My old laptop's cdrom is buggered to a point where it reads but it wont read all of the data on a disk.

it has usb but i cant boot from usb from startup.

Is there a way that I can boot puppy then install jaunty from there ?

You could try using Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) to install ubuntu from hard drive. If its a old laptop make sure that it meets the system requirements to run jaunty.

This looks like something i can use.

If compiz and all the other effects are turned off, it should run fine :)

Thanx for the link :)
