Hello...

I would like to install ubuntu 64bit on my dell d630 (pimped up), so i downloaded the latest ubuntu(jj) 64bit iso.. but the name of the iso is " ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64.iso" and the "AMD" part scares me abit.

Will this work on my dell d630 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7700 (2.40 GHz)

Please advise ;)

Thank You

What's wrong with AMD? In this case, it's just a naming convention, so you are good to go.

I had to follow the instructions on this site to get compiz working : http://brechtgijbels.blogspot.com/2009/04/dell-d630-configuration-for-ubunutu-904.html

Thanks for the help...

managed to get my old compiz config file from my old ubuntu 8.10 drive and modified the config on my current ubuntu 9.04 64bit...everything worked awesome as i used "intel silverlake" as the driver...but the performance was absolutely poor..so decided to trash the ubuntu 9.04 64bit install and installed ubuntu 32bit 9.04..

also gave up with the compiz/emerald stuff...plain linux does it for me :)

i like it fast..&..responsive whooooo hooo

oh thanks tho for the help ;)
