Hi all,

i have installed kubuntu 9.04 yesterday and everything was working properly, until i installed XBMC and it was not working properly, so i search the forums for similar problem and found that it was a driver issue with ATI.

i followed the link hey have given there for the latest ATI driver and i have installed it, then the another problem has occurred and i do not know how to properly fix it...

the problem was after i rebooted my laptop, it won't display the desktop properly, this happens on the part where the splash screen would show.

so here is what i have done so far but with no luck in the recovery mode (or something like that)
1. chosen the option to repair broken packages --- nothing happened
2. chosen to login to terminal with networking and tried the following commands that i have found in the forums and rebooted every time to see if it works but still with no luck:
sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

what i would like to do now is to reinstall the default graphics driver that kubuntu have installed for my laptop so that i can use it again properly.

as mush as possible, i don't want to reformat my laptop again.

i'm currently using the live-cd just to be able to post here...

any help will be much appreciated...

thanks...
