Mary Jo Foley (http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=2515) of ZDNet has written on her blog

On the desktop, Microsoft plans to deliver via SP2 previously announced file-format changes — specifically support for Open Document Format (ODF)....

It will be interesting to see how compatible is and remains with OpenOffice.org.

I remember reading somewhere that the ODF format was just a text dump to XML... whether or not that's a good thing or not, I don't know.
