need help! monitor goes inactive

after my upgrade from 8.10 to jaunty when my computer restarted it goes to the loading screen and then the monitor goes to sleep. any advice is appreciated.

i had a simmilar issue recently, and was really supprized by the solution (in my case). try completely unplugging your monitor from the wall for 30 seconds and plug it back in. hopefully you will see desktop.

check xorg.conf, see if the refresh/sync rate matches your monitor's spec
