Faster Upgrade From Disk ? Possible

is it possible for me to download the CD and upgrade my ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 because i dont have internet at home and i have to run across 4 lanes of traffic to get on internet (laptop) and then battery only last about an hour or two so can i speed it up / completly upgrade from a cd because the internet is so slow like 60kb/s and its got 1339 packages to download

how can i speed this up cause baterry not gonna last that long

Download alternate CD.With it you can upgrade without internet.Of course your Intrepid have to be up to date.Updates for Jaunty you can get later.
