Popular packages to add after install

I was just wondering what most people added after an install. I know the ubuntu-restricted-extras is probably popular, but what else should I be looking for?

From there probably you would like to isnstall the two following codecs

1. libdvdcss2
2. w32codecs

This is for codecs.

Then I like to install vlc media player, which is really very nice.
