Video issues with 9.04 install

I just installed 9.04 64 bit. My video card is a ATI 3870 X2.

Just after the install everything was working fine. Then when I restarted the computer the graphics display does not work. I see a very squished picture of the motherboard startup screen as a narrow band across the top of my display.

How can I fix this problem?

i believe i had the same problem, but on acer,

try to restore your xorg.conf file, to backup version

when you boot it should give you option to restore your old settings
