GnomeBaker translators needed

If you want to start translating GnomeBaker (a Gnome CD burning app, http://gnomebaker.sourceforge.net) please go to:

and start translating.

Translation has been done in Brazilian Portuguese already and Danish will finished soon.

approximatly how much work is involved, ie how many Kb needs to be translated to each language? Could I do just a part of a translation if I don't have time to do it all?

of course you can do only a part of a translation

gaim does already have a german translation (i use it at the moment ;)), so why should it be translated twice?

While Rosetta is a very cool program is lacks the peer review factor that the translation teams offer, so if you translate something please ask your relevant translation teams to review your work - or it will not be of the highest possible quality for the user.. one person alone is not perfect.

This btw. the biggest flaw with Rosetta, there are no options to "let team know this all needs reviewing"

I have started on the US English translation. I'm thinking it is mostly just retyping the existing English. This will be used to populate a different file I guess. I certainly don't mind retyping these entries if it will help the project. And since english is the only language I know, this might be my only chance to contribute!

A couple of questions. For entries that have the variables listed in the original (such as "Duration %f Fraction is %f") should I type the variables "%f" in the translation also?

Should entries that have an underscore in the original have an underscore in the translation too? ( _Action Sc_an for Devices and so forth).

%f should be included.

Underscore is needed for keyboard navigation.

I've started the Malay translation. A bit slow. Eventhough Malay is my native languange I haven't actually used any software that used Malay in it's interface. So a bit awkward in trying to find suitable Malay words/phrases substitute for it's English counterpart.

This is a message to Torben Refsing. GnomeBaker has already been translated to Danish even though you cannot see it in Rosetta.

You can take a look in CVS. The da.po file is there.

You can become the future translator of GnomeBaker because my time is limited.

Release 0.3 of GnomeBaker should go into testing pretty soon. It will include all languages found in Rosetta as of today.

Hi everyone, new user here at Ubuntu. Came here from Gentoo...

Anyway, I started with the Finnish translation. Pretty hard to figure out good way to translate some of the stuff, so hopefully someone will review these and make the translation better.. But hey, it's a start anyway :)

Oh, Gnomebaker looks pretty darn promising! KUTGW.

EDIT: Okay, I've translated most of it already, but some of the words are a bit hard to translate as they have many meanings in Finnish language and are not directly translateable (is that even a word? :)) from English - especially when you don't know where the translation is going to be used excactly.

I'll try to look onto those later on, sleep&work time now.

This template contains plural messages. To be able to translate these messages, we need to have special information for each language. However, we do not have this information for Arabic, please read the documentation about plural forms and contact the Rosetta users mailing list to resolve this giving us the plural form expression as the documentation specifies it.
If you don't understand exactly how it works, just give us the rules you follow when writing into your language and we will try to write the expression for you.
This procedure only ever needs to be done once per language. Once we have the information, you can translate into these languages.
