hi! I have a problem with synaptic package manager and Update manager. when i open them, they appear for 1 sec and then thous programs are closed automatically. and I have an error message at my panel saying:
'An error occured when checking for updates'.
Maybe its because of the new ubuntu?
Here is my version:
lsb_release -a

It's possible but have you tried
sudo apt-get upgrade from a terminal?

Hi,

I seem to have exactly the same problem also on a recent install of 9.04 (installed from Windows XP).

Is there any solution for this?

Another copy of the same problem here, though a bit of a different result on the apt-get: Segmentation faulty tree at 50%.

Also, Firefox just locked Ubuntu up while trying to load this reply page the first time round. XP
