I installed ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64 last night and I am having graphics problems.

I intitally tried the Live CD whi booted into the command line.
I installed (dual Boot with XP) to a spare drive and it booted into bash like the live CD

After some fiddling with the startup option I manged to get it to boot into a low graphics version where I downloaded the NVidia GF8400 graphics driver.

My problem now is that the maximum resolution I can manage is 640x480.

Is there a way to increase the resolution? The GF8400 and my monitor can handle up to 2048x1536

Many Thanks
