scrambled video

i just loaded 8.10 yesterday and one of the first things i did was to try to make the video more readable (changed Monitor resolution from 1280x1024 (5:4) to 1024x768 (4:3)). now everything is scrambled. Reboot, still scrambled...
can boot from CD to get here.
I know there is an easy fix, but ican't see the sscreen!!
what now??

Well if you just installed, I would just re-install and install 9.04, it has much better hardware support and I'd bet it will solve your problem.

Hi and you may try and boot into recovery mode and use the xfix option to correct graphical issues.
