How did/will you get 9.04

So ... as a torrent client comes in handy i use torrent to download Ubuntu 9.04 (AMd64 & x86)

Normally im totally against torrent but it just rocks for free software cause it gives me Full speed almost always and it is also a way for me to contribute to the community ...

Grabbed Kubuntu amd64 edition and the Ubuntu alternate install x86 via torrent

Was getting 2 megabytes a second, downloads was done in 5 minutes.

Torrents are fantastic for linux distributions.

I would prefer torrents, but can't use them from this machine (with the fast connection).. Or actually I could use a torrent, but sysadmins would complain and probably stop the download....

So I will download it from closest ftp mirror.

I caved in and torrented 64-bit 9.04 from Isohunt Thursday morning. The speed averaged around 900 MB/s. I'm definitely impressed with the speed and stability of this release.

I have a slow connection 50 KB/s download. I always download Ubuntu using torrents, but this time I decided to go with ftp. I shouldn't have... The download froze at 99% and then it started from the beginning. I went and grabbed the i386 and 64 bit versions of Ubuntu using the good old way of torrents.

I swapped into XP, and used Free Download Manager for my HTTP, I got a 1mb/s Download... I don't know if its on ubuntu, I'm pretty sure its not, though

I went into the update manager, had it do a search for the best server, and upgraded from there.

As I've mentioned in another post, I have no working DVD rewriter, probably because of a bad SATA cable. This makes my only installation method via thumb drive, which I prefer. So, when I'm finally ready to make the jump, I'll use Transmission to download the torrent.

I'm gonna wait, though, until a few months after release. This gives Jaunty enough time for bugfixes and further improvements. An excellent choice for me, since I use several apps which haven't (yet) appeared in the repos, and have to be compiled and built from source. Oh, the dependencies...

I do like what I've seen so far, though. :guitar:

For some reason the bittorrent link on the Ubuntu site isn't working for me (assuming the servers a little strained right now, as it worked with Fedora and OpenSUSE), so I'm grabbing it from the website as well. It should only take about ten minutes, which isn't bad and is what I would have expected from BT as well.
I'm assuming once I have the ISO, I can still help seed. Usually Bittorrent would be the way to go for me.

I downloaded it from a mirror, using FTP, in England before the worldwide mirror actually finished. I got 9.04 before it was released.

I dist upgraded when the RC came out, then just upgraded as normal there after.

I'm confident enough to fix any problems that come up, which to be fair have been very few over the last few releases. This way I get quick download speeds as I'm early on the up take, and I'm putting less strain on the server.
