am looking to to install JRE6 on my ubuntu, but am not looking to use the standard apt option for installing java, i have downloaded the binary file(.bin) and installed successfully, where it has created the java home directory under "/home/myuser", i moved the java home directory to "/usr",
where i tried to check the command "java -version" where the command line keep telling that "java is available in the following packages" and it shows a list of packages, i tried all those JAVA_HOME settings either in /etc/profile or ~/.bashrc with no luck, so what would suggest me?

Any particular reason you're not using the repos version?

i need to centralize the java installation in one directory, where the repos version install files into many directories.
