View Full Version : [ubuntu] Jaunty upgrade removes a lot of my necessary software

I just upgraded to Jaunty using the alternate install CD, and during cleanup of the upgrade process, 160 or so of my packages were flagged for removal as "obsolete". These included virtualbox, java, msttcorefonts, flash, and generally a lot of core useful stuff that I'm now in the process of reinstalling. I suppose I could have decided to keep all this stuff, but I didn't want to break my system with a bunch of "obsolete" software... Why did it do this to me? Why didn't it just upgrade these packages if it needed to?

The upgrade also decided to remove VLC from my system instead of upgrading it.

As a result of upgrading to Jaunty my touchpad has been killed :( (left and right buttons work OK)
Is there a fix for that?
