has support for 8.10 ended?

i ask this because i just tried to install a package from the repository and it just hangs when trying to connect:
could not connect to us.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (91.189.88.45), connection timed out

edit: solved

i am unable to connect and download pacages from the us.archive.ubuntu.com

not sure why

thought i solved it but i guess not

this is kinda weird i just ran sudo apt-get update --fix-missing and then i could download a package but then with the next package i couldn't connect to the server again.

The Ubuntu servers are probably getting hammered pretty hard right now, what with the release of Jaunty. You could try a different mirror or just wait a couple of days until the rush has died down.
