Hey,

I have a pretty basic question that probably could be answered by reading up but I can't find the info on wiki so I figured it'd probably get a good answer pretty quickly on here. Le question is:

What system resource/resources get used up when using dual monitors?

I am using an oldish laptop with not much (512) ram (is ram what gets used up??) and was wondering if I'd be able to dual screen with something large-ish like maybe 22" in addition to my teeny 17" laptop screen.

Yes, before you ask. I do have the relavent VGA connector in the back of my laptop and I've had dual monitor working before with GLORIOUS EASE in ubuntu but it was only a second 17" jobby.

Apologies if this is too simple a question/in the wrong place.

The size of the monitor has nothing to do with using any computer hardware resources. If a 17" monitor work well, A 22" would work just as well.
