I've done a reasonable amount of searching for this, but can't find a good answer. Is it possible in 9.04 to use a laptop LCD as the primary display when an external LCD is plugged into the VGA port?

I've got a HP laptop with an ATI x1600 graphics card, and an external LCD on the left side of my desk. I'd like my primary display to *always* be the laptop LCD, but... how? Web searching points me to disper, but that seems to be nvidia only...

I can move my GNOME panels, but they're reset when I take the laptop home and use it without an external display. Then when I come back into the lab, I've got to screw with my panels all over again. It's really quite irritating!

Thanks for any help!
