50.000$ is needed to meet the goal of having a proper system administration team. As of today thanks to donations including from users like you and I, Google and our very own Canonical we are about 40% of the way there.

Having reliable infrastructure means software gets on your Ubuntu desktop smoother and that the GNOME developers have a go to persons to solve problems. It also means improvements to GNOME and the way it's developed which will benefit us all in the end.

As a bonus since the collection is being done via Friends of GNOME, you get a personalized thank you note from a real geniune GNOME hacker as well as a t-shirt. Clothing, words of kindness and Free Software - what more could you ask for?

How about finding a volunteer system administration team? I would volunteer and save these guys money how about anyone else?

Please clarify for me, you talk about a full time administrator, the link you provide talks about part time. Which is it ?
