Should I have three or two partitions for Ubuntu?

I'm installing Ubuntu 9.04. I will need to decide how many partitions should I format. Should I partition /, /home, and swap or / and swap?

I use a /home partition as I find it easier if I ever need to reinstall as all my data in my /home partition remains untouched. But it all comes down personal preference IMO
