I just noticed that in my /home folder I have two folders:
/.thunderbird
/.mozilla-thunderbird

/.thunderbird seems to be a link to /.mozilla-thunderbird and all the files are written two both folders. In my Thunderbird account settings, my local folders is set to /.thunderbird.

Is this the usual set up? If not, how should I reconfigure everything? I would prefer not to lose any of the emails, settings, or address book data if possible. Thanks in advance!

(mods - if this should be moved to a different category, please do!)

Are you using Thunderbird 3? In version 3 the directory was changed from ~/.mozilla-thunderbird to ~/.thunderbird

I'm still on Thunderbird 2.0.0.21. Is 3.0 in the repos yet? Is it a good idea to upgrade?
